Is Alito Good for Jews ?

"Yes" says a (Jewish) lawyer who worked for him

WASHINGTON, Jan. 2 (JTA) — It’s axiomatic that Jews tend to view all news through the lens of “but is it good for the Jews?” It’s therefore no surprise that this filter now is being brought to bear on my former boss and mentor, Judge Samuel Alito Jr., who has been nominated to the U.S. Supreme Court

Based on my experience working closely with Judge Alito, I can answer unequivocally that yes, Judge Alito will be good for the Jews — and, by extension, for all Americans.

So says Jeffrey Wasserstein - a law clerk for Judge Alito from 1997-98 - and an article for JTA.

Do you think this will have any bearing for the Democratic Jewish Senatorial Cabal led by Charles Schumer ? Like the Vichy sheeple herded into the gas chambers - these collective nitwits (although sometimes Joe Lieberman regains some sense) will raise a stink and probably will vote en-masse against the nomination and worse - may assist in a filibuster.

There's something a little offensive about that sentence, isn't there? It's pretty easy to imagine, say, Pat Buchanan rightly getting in trouble for writing something like that.

What's good for the Jews is what's good for the country. "For happily the Government of the United States, which gives to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance, requires only that they who live under its protection, should demean themselves as good citizens," in the words that Washington's letter to the Hebrew Congregation of Newport, RI. I think that most Jews of every political stripe understand this. The trouble with Schumer et al. isn't that they neglect what's good for the Jews per se, but rather that they err in their judgement of what's good for the country.
